VLP To Participate As A Charity Partner in the 2010 Pittsburgh Marathon

This year VLP is participating as a 'Charity Partner' of the 2010 Pittsburgh Marathon. Scheduled for the morning of May 2nd, the marathon course will cross each of the three rivers in Pittsburgh and travel through the Southside, Oakland, Shadyside and Bloomfield neighborhoods. As a Charity Partner, VLP will be paying the registration fees for sponsored runners, who in turn will be raising charitable funds and community awareness to benefit VLP's mission of providing essential housing, employment and other vital supportive services to our local heroes. Nearly 30 runners are registered to run on behalf of VLP, and that number is growing!

In support of the event and our runners, VLP will be hosting a pasta party the night before the marathon and will be conducting an array of festivities at the VLP office/parking lot on Carson Street on race day given that the marathon race course will run directly in front of our office! We have additionally volunteered to man a water station in front of the VLP office, and we will be staffing a tent area at the marathon finish line for all to gather afterwards.

For additional information on runner registration or volunteer sign up, please contact Annette Romain at 412.481.8200 or romaina@vlpwpa.org.
