Upcoming Events
VLP regularly hosts and participates in events that benefit our community's veterans, and our local community. Whether a formal tribute to local heroes, weekly career workshops in our office, a neighborhood fundraiser, or other community events, there are lots of opportunities to get and stay involved. VLP Honored by GreatNonprofits
Kings Restaurant Partners with VLP
Kings Restaurant is continuing their partnership with VLP to support our regions veterans. Kings will conduct a "Flag" campaign from Wednesday, June 20th through Wednesday, July 4 2012 in honor of the 4th of July and from Sunday, October 28th through Sunday, November 11th 2012 in honor of Veteran's Day. VLP Receives the VA Secretary's Award
On February 16 2012, VLP was honored to receive the VA Secretary's Award for Outstanding Achievement in Service to Homeless Veterans. VLP is the second community organization in the nation to receive this prestigious award, with the first recipient last year from Washington state. The award was presented at the VA Medical Center in Oakland by Mr. Pete Dougherty, Associate Executive Director and Senior Policy Advisor of the VA's national Homeless Veterans Initiatives Office. VLP Receives Employment Grant to Assist Homeless Veterans
VLP was one of 64 organizations Nationwide to receive the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP), a competitive grant funded by the United States Department of Labor that assists homeless veterans reintegrate into the workforce by providing job training and placement, career advising and supportive services. In 2011, VLP placed 161 homeless veterans into meaningful jobs within the Pittsburgh region. Read More
